The CEV is a commuter and fleet vehicle comprised of a donor gas burning vehicle, converted by Black Bay to electric operation. The main focus is on small pickup trucks, such as the Chevy Colorado and S-10, and smaller cars, such as the Chevy Aveo and Cobalt. Larger and more esoteric vehicles will also be addressed as needed. A typical conversion vehicle will reach a speed of 60 miles per hour and have an average range of 50 to 80 miles using standard lead-acid batteries, with an option to upgrade to sealed AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries or Lithium-based batteries. Lithium batteries generally increase speed about 10% and provide increased range of 150+ miles, but at very high cost. Conversion vehicles will be assembled using proprietary power-train architecture utilizing proven electrical components and power systems. Black Bay can convert most vehicles to electric drive. A typical conversion starts at approximately $20,000 plus the cost of the donor vehicle, depending on options and other factors.
